Electives- Drama

The students in Year 8 & 9 Drama are developing their Ensemble plays for the End of Year Performance. The Year 8 Girls students have chosen the theme of “Immigration” and have been working hard to develop their scenes and characters. The setting is a detention centre with some characters managing to break free. The final resolution results in the Government changing the law to protect and benefit the refugees.

The Year 8 Boys students have chosen the theme of a crime scene taking place between two gangs which involves a conflict that is finally resolved in the conclusion. The boys have been engaged and focused whilst developing their scenes, action, narrative and characters.

The Year 9 Boys students have been focusing on the theme of the “Wonders and Horrors of Being a Teenager”. The students have been developing the scenes through Improvisation and have been looking at issues such as conformity, self-esteem, peer group pressure, mental health issues, school life and family for their ideas and concepts.

I am looking forward to their end of year performance and the culmination of their effort and progress that the students have made in Drama during the year.
